Shipping/Receiving Lead

What You Will Get to Do:

  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of required PPE (e.g., safety glasses, hearing protection, safety toe shoes)
  • Foster a strong sense of ownership and accountability for quality within the team while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Release orders and oversee the preparation, packaging, and staging of outgoing shipments
  • Print and verify shipping documentation (packing slips, labels) for accuracy
  • Communicate and coordinate with planners, carriers, freight forwarders, and logistics providers to schedule pick-ups and deliveries
  • Ensure orders are shipped on time to meet customer deadlines
  • Receives all products and purchases from our suppliers
  • Supervise the unloading and inspection of incoming materials and supplies
  • Verify the accuracy of shipments against purchase orders and receiving documents
  • Ensure proper storage, labeling, and documentation of received materials
  • Maintain accurate inventory records within ERP/WMS systems
  • Monitor stock levels, investigate discrepancies, and support cycle counts
  • Collaborate with inventory control and procurement teams to ensure the availability of required materials
  • Adhere to and ensure the team is following quality standards to ensure customer satisfaction with the final product, while fostering a strong sense of ownership and accountability for quality within the team
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and support to team members to encourage skill development and accountability
  • Make decisions on team member assignments and responsibilities, moving the team to productive areas during downtime periods
  • Demonstrate versatility by working across multiple areas and equipment types
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as Kaizen events, problem-solving teams, and other improvement projects
  • Implement and uphold Lean Manufacturing principles (5S, Standard work, visual management, Kaizen) within your team
  • Ability to assist with Production Supervisor duties

What You Will Bring:

  • 3 years of experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations
  • High School Diploma or GED with good English reading, writing and math skills
  • Computer Skills: Knowledge of an ERP system like Oracle or Syteline and Microsoft programs such as Excel, Word, etc.
  • Organization Skills: Ability to efficiently work in a high paced environment with strong troubleshooting skills, capable of diagnosing and correcting complex faults and downtime and the ability to multi-task and shift priorities as needed
