Warehouse Switch Driver

What You Will Get To Do:

  • Transport full and empty trailers between designated docks, and parking spaces
  • Assist warehouse personnel with tasks between trailer switches which may include: build pallets for shipments, pallet wrapping, pre-load scanning, loading and unloading freight and labeling
  • Inspects truck and trailer equipment such as tires, lights, brakes, dollies, and deck for defects prior to spotting in load bays
  • Inspect cargo to ensure it is properly loaded or secured
  • Operate equipment, such as truck cab computers, CB radios, phones, or global positioning systems (GPS) equipment to exchange necessary information with warehouses, supervisors, or other drivers
  • Maintain organization of the trailer yard to ensure the efficient and safe transport of trailers
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of work area
  • Follow safety procedures for vehicle operation, including the user and operation of trailer jacks, landing gear, and wheel chocks
  • Review documents or materials for compliance with relevant policies or DOT regulations (such as a Bill of Lading, Bill of Materials, Shipping Manifest) and storing them in a proper manner during transport

What You Will Bring:

  • 1 year of commercial tractor-trailer driving or switcher experience
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook
  • Valid Michigan Driver’s license, clean driving record, DOT Medical Card, or ability to obtain a DOT-required medical certification, CDL
  • Ability to efficiently work in a high paced environment
  • Ability to work with other team members on the warehouse and production floor
  • Ability to communicate cross-functionally throughout the organization; Good verbal and written communication
